Hayes Thinks Seattle Lass Could Be Another Nina Haraka PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 25 November 2006

As we suggested in our pre-race comments, Seattle Lass won comfortably at Morphettville today, giving the Cyberhorse Racing Club six winners from seven to start.

This was despite her having to lead, which is against her normal racing style.

In his post-race report, Tony McEvoy said she was at the end of her tether at the finish but showed great determination to hold off the challengers and ran a last sectional in the 33 second range.

I watched Seattle Lass win her race in the company of David Hayes at Sandown, who was tickled pink at training the trifecta.

He predicted that Seattle Lass could become another Nina Haraka, also by Lindsay Park sire Fraar, who came out and won a string of races as a two year old before going on to become a Group 1 contender.

Ironically, it was Nina Haraka's daughter by Dash For Cash, Extension Of Time, which beat Seattle Lass at her first start two weeks ago. Club Members will recall that Tony McEvoy reported pre-race that Seattle Lass beat Extension Of Time in a track gallop last week for the first time.

Current plans for Seattle Lass are up in the air.

Hayes is of the opinion that she is below the top class fillies such as Press The Button with which he won the Merson Cooper Stakes at Sandown today. However he believes that she is well above average and certainly up to Melbourne city class.

However she is eligible for lucrative SABIS (South Australian Breeders Incentive Scheme) bonuses while ever she wins in South Australia, which lift her prizemoney potential there to nearly Victorian levels against much weaker opposition.

So Seattle Lass may well stay in Adelaide for a while.
