With 7 two year olds trained by David Hayes part owned by the Cyberhorse Racing Club, we are pleased that the Lindsay Park two year old machine has already sprung into action with two winners in the last week at Victoria Park and Flemington.
Particularly pleasing is that Alannan, the sire of two of our horses in Don Cielo and Royal Debutante had a winner with his first ever runner. Aquifer won the first two year old race of the season in Adelaide at Victoria Park last Monday.
Press release from Lindsay Park Stud follows:
Lindsay Park’s freshman
sire Alannan has kicked off his career as a stallion in faultless fashion
winning with his inaugural runner.
Aquifer (Alannan – Foam Follower) was
impressive in taking out the first 2YO race in Adelaide
at Victoria Park today. David Hayes was delighted with the result and indicated
that there is some depth in Alannan’s ranks.
“He is a strong early type and he did
everything right today which is typical of the breed. The good news is that we
have several Alannan’s in the stable that
compare favourably with this colt,” David
explained.
Bred to race at Lindsay Park by Mr
and Mrs Peter McInnes,
Aquifer has always been an impressive type. His dam Foam Follower (by Bellwater) has been a consistent producer with Aquifer now
the fifth winner from five runners out of the mare.
Alannan (Conquistador Cielo
– Dame Sybil) was a multiple Group 2 winner and Group One placed sprinter
in the USA.
He smashed Distorted Humor’s track record over 1400m at Churchill Downs
and was rated the second highest-weighted sprinter worldwide for the colts of
1996.
Alannan’s half
sister La Sarto is the dam of Les Arcs the recent
multiple Group One winner in the UK who defeated Takeover Target in the Golden
Jubilee Stakes before going on to win the prestigious July Cup at Newmarket. Alannan’s second
dam is USA Broodmare of the year Anne Campbell making him closely related to
sires Desert Wine, Menifee and Fasliyev.
Alannan in owned in partnership by a number of South
Australian breeders after being secured with the help of prominent Adelaide
bloodstock agent Adrian Hancock.
“Thanks to the support of shareholders Alannan
has been well supported with 285 mares in his first three seasons. Now with the
backing of a leading racing stable the stallion has every chance of making an
impact as a freshman sire,” Sam Hayes commented.
Aquifer will most likely now head towards the Fulham Park Plate at Morphettville on October 28.
